We are people aware of our own brokenness and the wounds we inflict on others, but who are experiencing grace and forgiveness through the power and mercy of Jesus Christ. We welcome others to join us as we seek to know and enjoy Him. Our hope is to live transparent and authentic lives and to build a safe place for others to see, participate in, and explore the wonderful mercy of God.

Summer Oaks began when our pastor, Howie Burkhalter, and his family, moved to Greensboro in the summer of 2003. Since then, through a home prayer meeting that began in August, 2003, a Bible study that began in January, 2004, and public worship services beginning in late October, 2004, a core fellowship of more than sixty adults and children has emerged to pursue the vision of Summer Oaks.
